To Thrive, Or Not to Thrive?
If you’ve never heard of Thrive Market, think Whole Foods at about half the price, delivered. (Free delivery on orders $49 and up) How? They sell products for less with a membership, and they claim to never sacrifice health. You’ll see most of their products are organic, non-GMO, etc.
From laundry detergent to food and makeup, there’s not a whole lot you can’t find on Thrive. I don’t buy everything on there (yet), but I do enjoy buying specifics I know I’m getting for less and delivered to my door. Plus, if you can’t be trusted in a supermarket (do not go hungry), why not shop online with the fridge nearby?
I personally love the fact that I only need to go to the grocery store/farmer’s market for produce. Thrive does now have an option to get sustainably caught seafood and grass-fed organic meat, which ends up saving us tons.
Thrive has many negative reviews online based on the sole fact that people weren’t aware they were paying a yearly fee. I’m not sure what happened that they weren’t informed, but I think it makes it pretty clear that you pay a membership fee of $59.95 annually. And, you can do a free trial for 30 days without paying that fee.
By paying for a membership, you’re sponsoring a free membership for a low-income family as well. I love the fact that they do this, since there are 23.5 million people who live in food deserts in the U.S. And, most of them are low-income families who live more than a mile from a supermarket, according to the USDA.
Are the Perks Worth it?
A membership comes with perks. If your nearest supermarket with healthy products is a Whole Foods like myself, the Thrive membership pays for itself. Especially since Whole Foods upped their prices when Amazon bought them out. Plus, I like the fact that I’m a part of a company that stands by good values. One thing I also fancy is the fact that they have an option to narrow down your search, like an EWG verified category along with diet restrictions.
Another perk is the free gifts. With every order I place with Thrive, I get a free gift. They give them away often and if you wait until it’s something you want/need, you’re golden. It gives you the chance to try something you might want, or just get something you need again for free. Some gifts are samples and others are good sized items, that have one use or last a while.
Perk Tip: Some of their free products fly off the shelf fast and they run out (it’s happened to me only once), but if that happens, just shoot them a quick chat message and they give you $10 Thrive cash!
Shipping is also usually pretty fast. It’s typically just 4 days. The most I’ve waited was 5-6 days, and that’s pretty rare. Plus, you can wait until you have $49 worth of products and it’s always free.
I’ve found that most of Thrive’s products are filled with clean ingredients, as that is their MO. But, like any other grocery store, there’s always going to be unhealthy “healthy” products. Thrive’s approach makes it better with categories and easy-to-read labels. Be sure to always read the nutrition label for your specific needs, especially for snacks and baking products.
I’m always here to help you out with a pantry swap or a grocery store tour if you’re not sure about a product. And, if you’ve signed up and don’t know where the hell to start, I’ve tried a number of products over the years and I’m sure I can help you out.

Clean Makeup Finds
Most days, I just use the moisturizer and the coverage is oh so lovely. It goes on smooth and doesn’t feel like you have anything on. With zinc oxide as the active ingredient, it protects from UVA and UVB rays, and don’t worry, it’s not going to turn you white. It’s tinted. I go back and forth between using my homemade makeup powder and this Well People powder, which gives a matte finish to your foundation or tinted moisturizer. Both companies are EWG verified, so if you don’t want to make your own, this is a great option!
Look for makeup products with as little ingredients as humanly possible, because many have harsh chemicals that can cause breakouts, which will make you have to repeat the vicious cycle all over again. Trust me, I’ve tried. The bottle can be a little testy, so just make sure you’re careful with your first use and you get used to its quirks. Most products give you a 3-5 dollar savings per item, but added up, it might be worth it for you. It certainly is for me. Also, if you find something elsewhere that’s cheaper, they’ll give you a price-match guarantee and credit you the difference.
I could’ve went on for days, but I figured I’d draw the line at 10.
Bottom line: There are tons of options out there, so do what’s right for you. I just know that Thrive has helped to make my life so much easier over the years, so I wanted to share. I hope you found this information helpful.
